The mission of the Simulation center at Holyoke Community College is to support nursing education through the use of clinical simulation. The center provides realistic, risk free, hands-on, clinical learning experiences using current technology and medical equipment, and human patient simulators. The simulation experience promotes greater competency in students’ clinical skills, awareness of patient safety, improved performance on a health care team and enhances their critical thinking ability.
The center also promotes health career awareness education for students in the community through the use of patient simulation in a realistic healthcare environment. Through this engagement, students can make informed career choices.
It is the goal of the Simucenter to establish an effective learning climate where learners feel safe and comfortable expressing themselves. To encourage learners to identify resources and devise strategies for using resources to meet their learning objectives; Support learners in carrying out their learning plans; Involve learners in self-evaluation to promote and develop skills for critical self-reflection.
